Custom Domain

A guide on how to setup custom domain on Typlog.

Typlog is designed for people who want to host their blogs on their own domains. When a blog is setup, a {name}.typlog.io DNS record is created. You can host your blog with this subdomain of Typlog.

However, if you want to use your own domain, you can add it in Typlog settings:

  1. Go to your Typlog Labs settings.
  2. Add your domain in the domain input field.

It won't work util you have setup the right DNS record.

DNS Record

Go to your DNS provider. If you are not using Cloudflare, it is suggested that you switch to Cloudflare. You can either add a CNAME record or an A record.

CNAME

CNAME is suggested since the IP of typlog may change in the future.

blog.example.com -> hosted.typlog.com

A Record

If you are using the naked domain as your blog, you may be not able to add a CNAME record, try A record now. You can get the IP with ping hosted.typlog.com.

example.com  -> xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

SSL

Typlog has built-in SSL support via Cloudflare. If you are not using Cloudflare, you need to add this CNAME record:

blog.example.com -> blog.example.com.cdn.cloudflare.net

Only in this way, you can have HTTPS for your sites.
